My Background
Fair to say that my career has taken a fair few organic twists since graduating back in the 90's. An art lover from an early age, I progressed to study a degree in Illustration and design. Having spent years throwing paint at a canvas, developing photos in dark rooms until the late hours and drawing people in small studios, I bought a big grey desktop G3 AppleMac in 1999.

Early roles across Hampshire included being the first on-site graphic designer at FatFace working across:

  • Storefront design
  • Merchandising
  • Online branding
  • Brand strategy
  • Marketing campaigns

Design and Marketing in London.
Subsequent roles varied from in-house/agency side across Central London where web design and e-commerce was on the rise. I dipped my head under the water and began:

Hand coding HTML newsletters
Financial and annual report design/production
CMS setup
Analytical reporting
Event marketing
Exhibition stand design
E-commerce CMS setup and administration
Paid search, PPC, display

After many years working in my favourite city, I got myself registered as a freelance designer/digital consultant and I travelled the world. First stop Tokyo. I recall with fond memories building a website and creating a content marketing plan from an old PC in a cramped, very hot, internet cafe in central Saigon. Travel continued across Asia and down to Australia & New Zealand and then across to North America.

The South West.
Now, living in the South West, married and a father of 2, my career has been concentrated in digital and marketing management roles across b2c retail outlets and B2b trade-oriented setups. The creative element has evolved. Deadlines still remain paramount. The culmination of an idea, marketing, budget, design, app, website, social media, PR and advertising into one creative campaign is where the big win lies and ultimately what I look to now to fulfil commercially creative and rewarding work.

In my spare time I take many photographs of the night sky, sketch people on the train and whilst a city lover at heart (love the crowded buzz of a sultry London night), I'm never far from the sea.

Current skills/responsibilities include:

  • Project/launch management
  • Exhibition design and full event management
  • Retail outlet POS / Store merchandising
  • Google analytics reporting
  • Digital / content strategy
  • Social Media planning and content strategy/implementation
  • Technical onsite SEO
  • PPC campaign management
  • Video scripting and art directing
  • Photography
  • Marketing campaign management
